SKI-LINE® Track in Track

Faster, further, still more economic and more energy-efficient
Peter Riedel GmbH presents a new air-conditioned inrun system

Find the right area, consult the guidelines of the International Ski Federation, get suited helpers, lo and behold: You can already build your own ski jump in all system variations.

And one central subject is and will remain relevant for each project and each system: efficiency and effectiveness. At this, the funds for the construction of the Bakken as well as the significant costs for the operation must be considered.

Here we are not speaking about snow production or procurement or about the costs for the lift to transport the sportsmen and women upwards. In this place it is about the inrun. It must provide the same quality for all athletes, i.e. it must be cooled, heated and hence, air-conditioned, which costs energy, thus money. Mostly, ski jump owners do not have an easy life when it comes to their annual operating costs.

Unless they have been relying on a new air-conditioned inrun system by the company of graduate engineer Peter Riedel in Raschau – with this system you can run faster, jump further and now it is even more economic and more energy-efficient!

Mr. Riedel, the owner of the company, explains: “Our efforts to continue to be innovative will not be stopped. We have been working on a more economic and more energy-efficient inrun system and now, after one year of development works, we are able to present the result: An air-conditioned inrun which additionally saves valuable resources. In comparison to other systems, this enables us to reduce energy costs by four to six times.”

Compared to the current state of technology, the inrun channels of the air-conditioned inrun system by Ski-Line can be frozen in a significantly faster and more energy-saving way. Nonetheless, the ice remains absolutely stable and offers better training and championship conditions from the first to the last jumper even at a lower cooling capacity. This is possible due to the direct track cooling on the surface of the 7.5 cm thick block of ice. In future, also the heating on the sliding components’ surface will not be a problem anymore, even for snow at 0 degrees which is considered critical in the ski jump!

Recently, this technology is available as a version with a summer and a winter track in one inrun channel only; or as the proven dual track combination with a new HYPRID PLUS sliding element which has been tried during the FIS world cup.

Consequently, Peter Riedel GmbH is the only supplier on the worldwide market relying on an assembly system. It consists of an air-conditioned inrun, ice milling technology with an own winch, tarpaulin system for ski jumps and an irrigation system for the summer track; heating and jump measurement technology are situated at 15 m in front of the jumping edge. Naturally, all assembly parts are homologated.

“I run completely free in the topic of snow, ice preservation but also heating”, says Peter Riedel, “it is a very beautiful combination, on the one hand being a well-trained civil engineer and on the other doing the most beautiful winter sport of the world and consequently dealing with snow every day. Already during the basic development of the construction of the ski tunnel in Oberhof in Thuringia, Germany, I gained so much experience, which is now the basis of my knowledge of snow preservation on ski jumps!“

Mr. Riedel rather focuses on more eco-friendly events in winter sports and thus in the field of ski jump and the Nordic combined. To this purpose, he works day and night with his team. And not for ski jumps in his front garden, but in the best-known places of the world – in Garmisch-Partenkirchen or Chaux-Neuve or Hinzenbach or Chaykovsky.
